Exciting News!

June 22, 2011 by Cédric in Uncategorized

Just a quick update on some really exciting things that happened today: the meeting Vedant and I had today exceeded all of our expectations. We met with one of the top officials in the Mauritian government, and he was exceedingly responsive to all of the ideas we presented to him. Almost immediately, he indicated his support of my goal of establishing a national youth poetry prize in Mauritius—which I’m obviously very excited about—and went on to ask that each of our Fellows send a proposal about their respective projects for his review.

This meeting represented a significant step forward for ELI Africa. All of the Fellows now have the opportunity to present their long-term goals to the Mauritian government, and we hope that we’ll be able to create a long-lasting, fruitful relationship with our new government contact. I’ll post a more detailed account of our meeting in the next few days, but felt the exciting news was at least worth sharing with our followers.
