ELI Africa represents different things to different people. To some it is a haven, a place to be with friends and to have fun. To others, a place to enrich themselves mentally or even physically. However what ELI Africa represents to every person is FAMILY – The amazing ELI Family! No one will make you feel castaway, be it a fellow ELI Corps or the students, and this is what is so great about this awesome organization. Every member feels valued and wanted and this is why everyone is so special. I have joined the ELI Family four months ago and since the 1st day that I stepped into the center, I was welcomed into the family. I did not feel alienated at the idea of speaking in front of the kids because they were so wonderful and they wanted to know what I had to offer to them. Some of them were so keen about learning world history that it surprised me. They really wanted to know in detail what happened 100 years ago and how the allied countries defeated Germany in both of the world wars. This love and eagerness for learning make us feel valued as they care about what we have to offer them and this is another great aspect of ELI Africa. I hope that ELI will continue to grow both in terms of students and teachers and expand to other areas in Mauritius to help kids in need all around our island.
This is only a trailer of what I have to say about ELI Africa. I will be posting lots more about the center, the students and everything that encompasses ELI Africa. Keep tabs!
Until then goodbye
Vincent Babet.
