Meet Nadeem Nazurally

November 11, 2013 by Jane in Reefs

Hi all,

Meet the person at the head of all Environmental Projects of ELI Africa Mauritius. Being an ardent lover of the sea, corals and the environment, Nadeem Nazurally is a young man aspiring to embody the change he wishes to see in the world. Nature protection is his passion and he believes strongly in Robert Kennedy Jr “When we destroy nature, we diminish ourselves and impoverish our children.”  Since he joined ELI Africa Mauritius seven months ago, Nadeem has been head on with his projects and he has got a pretty impressive list of achievements worth talking about. As expert, he has got and a BSc and MSc and will soon be enrolling soon for a PhD in all environmental both marine and terrestrial subjects. Being the pioneer in coral farming in Mauritius, the ambitious Nadeem has set up a Coral farming activity at Trou aux Biches and the nursery are booming with coral fragments and small juvenile fish. He is very passionate about coral preservation and his single talks about corals can rope you in his projects. Besides, the dedicated and hard working Nadeem undertakes the ELI Forest (Scientific approach) which consists of planting endemic plants in a forest at Plaines des Roches and the Mangrove plantations around the island and up till now the project has achieved a total of 14400 mangroves plantations. Highly commendable, isn’t it? However our Nadeem is more amazing than this because he does not wish to rest on his laurels Here is a list of all his upcoming projects and ambitions at ELI Africa: a Full biodiversity restoration of all our lagoons and to Develop one main coral nursery and use it to culture corals and broken fragments so that they can be used to rehabilitate elsewhere in our lagoons. His vision for ELI Africa Environment is to create a regional hub for environmental conservation projects and to Link Community-based conservation projects and socio-economic development. His drive, zeal, enthusiasm and result-driven approach have made him the Lead Project Manager for ELI Africa Environment Projects. Of course we wish him luck and here are his personal mottos in life:

“The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired, in value.” ~Theodore Roosevelt

“The frog does not drink up the pond in which it lives.”

Keep up the hard and good work Nadeem; we are proud to have you on board with us at ELI Africa.

Last but not least, Nadeem wishes to thank Vedant Seeam, the master mind behind ELI Africa, for having offered him the golden opportunity to showcase his talent and his passion for the environment.
