Love of Trees

March 11, 2014 by Riddhi in Endemic Roots

7:30 am. Usually I’m still under my bed sheet but these past 3 days, at this time I have already starting digging and uprooting some of the endemic plants at our ELI forest in Plaine des Roches. Leaving home at 5:20 in the morning is not hard. It’s very hard. The scorching sun and dry air of Plaine des Roches make matters worse. But the company of the 2 laborers accompanying me makes it rather nice and funny at times.

We have started uprooting and relocating some of the plants that had previously been planted too close to each other. Also some of the species that had been scattered throughout the forest have been regrouped together. The work hasn’t ended yet and never will. At ELI, we never stop. We always keep going.  Below are some of the plants found at the ELI forest:

Please stay tuned for more updates on the ELI forest.
