With more than 32000 mangroves already planted, ELI Africa is now taking its vision one step forward. With the goal of bringing the number of mangroves planted to 100,000, we intend to include the community as well in our mission.
We believe that it is the duty of each and everyone to work towards the protection of our environment. So, taking as our fuel the positive responses and appreciation comments we have got during our previous public events, we are now working on establishing a system to get closer to the inhabitants of our small island.
Through, an online platform, the ELI App, that will connect us to heads of village councils, leaders of local associations in villages, those in charge of benevolent clubs, and the Mauritians in general, we are hoping to pass on our philosophy:“Consume to fulfil the needs of the present generation and not to endanger those of the future generation.”
This platform will not only sensitize the younger population, who are now, more than ever, connected through technology, about the importance of mangroves but it will also promote the ELI Endemic Roots project whose main focus is the reforestation of endemic plants in Mauritius.
ELI Wooff will also be an integral part of the platform to encourage people to pay more attention to animals. Our application will consist of a news section to increase awareness about environmental, socio-economic and political issues in Mauritius. It will also help people to have a better insight of ELI Corps to encourage more volunteers to give a helping hand in providing underprivileged children with better education.
Stay connected ! The ELI App will be coming soon.
